Diploma in Mindful Practice
MODULE 1
Diploma in Mindful Practice
1.Bring Your Whole Being
Mindfulness teaches us how to deal with life’s challenges in a calmer manner. It is not the answer to all of life’s problems but rather it allows us to see our problems more clearly, be in touch with our body and be able to respond in a discerning way rather than reacting with high emotion. It is a particular way of paying attention and looking deeply into oneself. It teaches us how to let go of thoughts and emotions that don't serve us. This lesson will focus on understanding the concept of mindfulness, help you recognise the importance of self-reflection and introduce you to your first of many mindfulness practices tools.
2.Cultivating the Attitude (of Gratitude)
In lesson two, we will be delving into the many benefits that mindfulness has been found to have and then look at what are considered the two main core components. We'll explore cultivating the grounding attitude of gratitude and how we can work with our buy minds when being mindful. This lesson will take you through a guided meditation known as the body scan or yoga nidra...
3.The Foundations 1
Lesson 3 is the first lesson on the mindfulness foundations set out by an instrumental teacher in the field. As it has developed over the years, mindfulness in western culture has adapted in this modern information age and globalized culture, taking on various methods, meanings, and perceptions. While the ancient ways are still recognized, many shy from this and therefore move towards a more secular approach of becoming immersed in physical experiences (like breath work). We're going to learn the first four fundamental pillars that underpin the practice in any of its forms. And then we'll be introduced to a significant and well known tool, meditation.
4.The Foundations 2
Continuing with our foundations lesson we begin understand that underpinning foundations to mindfulness are simple in their individual concept and accessible to all of us. Most powerfully, they are all interwoven. Yet while the benefits are increasingly noted, mindfulness as a practice is often avoided or rejected. And so we delve into how to commit to a meditative practice while learning what obstacles may arise on this journey.
5.Myth-busting and Mindful Practice Tools
One of the myths associated with mindful practice, is that while it is often said to be remarkably simple, it’s not necessarily easy. The work is to commit and to just keep doing it. All of us have the capacity to be mindful. As you develop, the practice will come to you naturally and you will reap the benefits. In this lesson we explore and debunk some of the main myths you may have heard or wonder about in order to help you feel at ease with your mindfulness journey. We will learn some simple tips to integrate meditation into our daily lives and also learn a new tool of meditating with the use of a mantra.
6.Connectedness: Mind and Body
The aim of mindfulness is not quieting the mind or attempting to achieve a state of eternal calm. The goal is simple: We're aiming to pay attention to the present moment, without judgment. Easier said than done, we know. Connecting the mind and body is a skill that is not easy to learn, but an important one to make.
7.Addressing Stress and Health
This lesson focuses on the concepts that being mindful and practicing meditation has the ability to improve our cognitive function and in particular our ability to focus and solve problems, it enhances mental resilience and can even bring about pathological changes in the brain and lessen physical pain/ improve overall health.
8.Everyday Mindfulness: The Power of Being Present
TMindfulness helps us put some space between ourselves and our reactions, breaking down our conditioned responses. It cultivates attitudes and behaviours that encourage life satisfaction as we learn to be more present in the moment, and more flexible and resilient. This lesson is focused of the teachings of everyday mindfulness and how you can master the power of being present in your everyday life.
MODULE 2
Intermediate in Mindful Practice
MODULE 2
Intermediate in Mindful Practice
1.The Art of Just Being
No matter how focused we are on memories and worries from the past or hopes and fear of the future, the fact remains that it is always now. We cannot escape the truth that we live in the present moment, neither in the past nor the future. When we allow our minds to drift away to thoughts and emotions from the past or future, we are robbing ourselves of being fully alive in the constantly unfolding beauty of the present moment. In this lesson we learn that there are four factors to remaining present. We get to explore and learn how important being compassionate with yourself and taming your inner critic is in order to live more presently.
2.Waking up From Autopilot
Explore the concept of autopilot, the pros and cons of living in this way. In this lesson, we also start to dive a bit deeper and discuss the idea of conscious manifestation. We learn to identify how to live our life to the fullest and together go through a coaching exercise to challenge and address our own autopilot mode and how to begin to manage our own obstacles to living life to the full.
3.Meditation in Motion
The concept or term ‘meditation in motion’ generally refers to a way of practicing being present by being in our body, wherever it is and whatever it is doing. When we are exactly where our body is, we are in the present moment. In this lesson we learn that the mind-body connection is made through the heart and that these connections between what is going on in your mind and heart, and what is happening in your body, form the psycho-emotional roots of health and disease. We will learn about heart coherence and how to recognise what life balance is and what it looks like in our own lives.
4.Emotional Intelligence
In this lesson, we unpack the the concept of emotional intelligence and the role it has in heart coherence. We will learn tips to improve or own emotional intelligence and recognise what it is we need to truly thrive in life. We also get to immerse ourselves in an exercise on heart coherence and well being.
5.Barriers - Turning Towards Difficulty
As fear may be simply seen as the opposite root emotion of love, we take some time to really explore it - what it is, how it works in the body and manifests. We also consider what it might teach us. We explore how to recognise our own barriers which may form challenges in life in addition to what barriers exist in our environments. We complete this lesson with a discussion on what it means to really lean into fear and face our difficulties head on and what may arise if we are brave enough to do so.
6.Relating to the Past: Your Life Story
As we continue in our journey of learning about how to lean into discomfort and overcome barriers, its important to recognise what may be holding us back from our past. In this lesson we gently explore the beliefs we hold about ourselves and the world as a way to recognising where we can support ourselves. We learn how to embrace the change that occurs in our lives.
7.Loving Kindness: The Ripple Effect
Knowing what we do about heart coherence, we journey into the concept of loving kindness. We look at what this means for us and the world at large. And we truly begin to fathom the part we play in healing ourselves, whilst understanding the knock on effect in those around us.
8.Building Support
OIn the final lesson of Module 2, we begin to look out and around us to seek out where we can build our own community of mindfulness and how we can move forward in our journey in a balanced manner. We explore the idea of our personal mindfulness practice being important in supporting the world at large.
MODULE 3
Advanced in Mindful Practice
MODULE 3
Advanced in Mindful Practice
1.Consciousness: From Science to Quantum Physics
To start the advanced module, we dive into the concept of consciousness, beginning with learning more about the evolution from traditional science to quantum physics. We learn about the importance of mind-body and spirituality.
2.Consciousness Discovered
We continue furthering our understanding from quantum physics to the unifying consciousness.
3.Developing Awareness of Self - The Art of Looking Within
From a big picture view, we whittle back down to our own self and our place in the universe. From this unique perspective, we relook at ourselves as consciousness and factors of our inner growth.
4.Self Regulation: Your True Identity
In building a personal mindful practice, it's important to return to the idea of self regulation, an important factor in high emotional intelligence. We learn what it is means and how to action it in our own lives.
5.Identifying Limiting Beliefs and Internal Programming
As in the last module where we broadly looked into our life stories, we now begin to chip further into our layers of beliefs and cultural conditioning. We follow this gentle but probing process as a way to peel some of the layers back and become more authentically 'the deeper I'.
6.Your Body's Wisdom - The Internal Locus of Control
SIn this lesson, we draw in all the ideas we have developed in the previous two models around the mind-body link and the body's intelligence. We begin to let the idea settle more deeply and find ways of trusting the body's signals.
7.Your Body's Wisdom - Intuition
Intuition is a vast and signficiant subject in our mindful practice journey. Here we begin to recognise where we are using our intuition to our benefit and where we may need to get more in touch with it.
8.Developing Awareness of Others - Nurturing Mindful Relationships
To end this module, just as we explored the knock on effects of our own journeys on others, we need to recognise the two-way street of relationships in our lives. What would a mindful relationship constitute and how do we build it?
